LDL Receptors are responsible for controlling the amount of bad cholesterol in the blood stream. This is very important because if there is to much bad cholesterol in your body you are very susceptible to heat attacks. The LDL Receptors attract the LDL (bad) cholesterol, and bring them into the cell where they are broken down by lysosomes.
